Abstract

This research focuses on addressing energy challenges in rural areas, particularly in Barangay Sagayen, Asuncion, Davao del Norte, Philippines, where the absence of street lights contributes to safety concerns and hinders community progress after sundown. The study proposes an innovative Pico-hydropower system as an alternative energy solution. The system utilizes existing infrastructure, repurposing irrigation pipes to create a localized and efficient energy generation system. The proposed Pico-hydropower system not only aims to illuminate the streets of Barangay Sagayen but also serves as a replicable model for similar regions facing energy challenges, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices and commitment to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
