Influence of pressing pressure on the mechanical properties of Durio zibethinus (Durian) fiberboard
(Journal of the Japan Institute of Energy, 2022) Aguilar, Jay Carlo S.; Lawagon, Chosel P.
Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) was developed from Durio zibethinus (durian) husk using urea formaldehyde (UF) as binder. The output will be applied as an automotive panel, realigning the conventional application of MDFs. Fibers were recovered from the husk, the undersize of 10 mesh screen was used for board production. The optimal conditions were determined by different mixing ratios of UF with water and varying the pressing pressure. The undersized fibers and optimized board were characterized in terms of surface morphology. Moreover, the mechanical properties of fiberboards were also studied. Results showed that fiberboard was optimal at a press pressure of 640 kPa. It yielded an internal bond (IB) of 2.85±0.43 MPa, modulus of elasticity (MOE) of 3008±228.69 MPa, and modulus of rupture (MOR) of 22.25±2.61 MPa. These were compared against properties of commercial MDF based on American National Standards Institute (ANSI) specifications (IB≥0.6 MPa, MOE≥2500 MPa, and MOR≥22 MPa). Hence, these results proved that the optimized fiberboard has high potential for commercial application in the automotive industry.

Strategic management practices and business performance of Agri-cooperatives in Davao del Norte
(Department of Accounting Education- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, 2024-05) Aloyan, April Mae Neptalie J.; Flores, Patrick Jade; Tano, Christine Rae D,; Mary Cris L. Luzada, CPA, MSA; Jimnanie A. Manigo, DBA; Ma. Teresa A. Ozoa, CPA, DBA
This research study focuses to examine how strategic management practices impacts business performance and propose effective solutions to address the difficulties and obstacles encountered by agri-cooperatives in Davao del Norte. Stratified random sampling determined the sample size of 153 respondents consisting board of directors, general managers, and supervisors. Using quantitative descriptive-correlational approach, it examines strategic management practices with its indicators of strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation and for the business performance, the indicators are financial and non-financial measures. Birger Wernerfelt's resource-based theory elucidates that the competitive advantage of a company depends on how effectively it employs its resources, capabilities, and strategic advantages. These elements play pivotal roles in determining the company's performance. Employing Regression Analysis, mean, and Pearson-r, findings showed that strategic management practices and business performance are at a high level, and it revealed a significantly positive relationship. The data additionally indicated that strategy formulation and strategy evaluation positively affect business performance, whereas the execution of strategies does not exhibit the same positive impact. The study recommends that integrating strategic management across all facets and domains of interest will aid agri-cooperatives in improving competitiveness and performance.

(Department of Accounting Education- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, 2023-07) Alayon, Raul H. Jr.; Calipayan, Maybelene E.; Sulasula, Bryan B.; Jovit G. Cain, CPA, MSA; Ma. Teresa A. Ozoa, CPA, MBA; Hazel Princess M. Rebollo, DBM
Education and learning in the accounting field today entail a variety of techniques that teachers and students use and adapt. These learning preferences are frequently ingrained in students and have a direct bearing on their learning process. This study aims to analyze the influence of learning style towards the performance of accounting students in Tagum City. Adapting a non-experimental quantitative research design with a total number of 294 respondents, the data revealed that Learning Style influences the Performance of Accounting students in Tagum City.

Enterprise risk management and organizational resilience among agricultural cooperatives in Davao del Norte
(Department of Accounting Education- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, 2024-04) Aguilar, Sophia R.; Postrano, Rigel C.; Ramayla, Aljhon D.; Mary Cris L. Luzada, CPA, MSA; Jimnanie A. Manigo, DBA; Maria Teresa A. Ozoa, CPA, MBA
The study aimed to ascertain the significant relationship between enterprise risk management and organizational resilience among agricultural cooperatives in Davao del Norte. The respondents of the study were 153 top level management personnel among agricultural cooperatives. The researchers conducted a quantitative non-experimental study using the correlational technique in research and utilized an adopted but modified questionnaire from Altemeyer (2004, p. 32) and Trellis Partners (2023, p. 1). The study’s findings demonstrate that respondents have high levels of enterprise risk management. Using the Decision-making theory anchors this study by Simon (1978, as cited in Alijoyo 2021, p. 2), who theorized how rational individuals should act amid uncertain circumstances and risks. Decisions will be made under bounded rationality; individuals behave distinctively when confronted with dangers and discrepancies. Through this, enterprise risk management (ERM) will benefit agricultural cooperatives in conducting risk decision-making, which automatically considers the actions performed after making a deciding its inception. This study proposed and tested that enterprise risk management significantly influences the organizational resilience of agricultural cooperatives. Moreover, the results suggest a positive correlation between enterprise risk management (ERM) and organizational resilience in Davao del Norte.

Financial literacy and financial well-being of public school teachers in Tagum City
(Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, 2023-06) Abe, Izume M.; Caasi, Chriszelle Anne M.; Pacot, Rosemarie D.; Ma. Teresa A. Ozoa, CPA, MBA; Joe Mari N. Flores, CPA, MBA; Hazel Princess M. Rebollo, DBM
The main objective of this study was to determine the level of financial literacy of the teachers and the level of financial well-being. Researchers sought to determine the financial literacy of public school teachers in Tagum City regarding budgeting, saving, borrowing, and investing. The indicators of financial literacy were based on the operational definition of Remund and Huston The researchers also assessed their level of financial well-being regarding perceived attributes and evaluated attributes. The indicators were taken from the conceptual model of financial well-being by Porter and Garman. This study will be significant not only to the teachers but to other employees, even to students, since this will make them aware of their financial well-being and the possible causes behind it. The respondents were public school teachers in Tagum City. The data were analyzed using the statistical tool mean.
